Arts & Sciences

Their Excellenies have asked for the following activities:

“A Year in the Arts”: a display featuring the classes we’ve held in the Barony over the last year.

“Never Won a Competition”: Have you never entered an A&S competition before? Or, would you like constructive feedback on an item you’d like to enter? This is your opportunity! This is for either beginner artisans or artisans who have been hesitant to enter competitions.

The Baronial Champion Artisan Competition: their Excellencies Tir-y-Don will choose their champion to represent them for the next year. Entries can be themed to “Return to Sherwood” or historical hunting, but it is not required.

There will also be a Brewing competition and display!

Artisans can direct questions about the activities either to myself (Jane Fox) or to their Excellencies Jean-Claude and Alyna.

Merry Men & Tights Fashion Show

We, the people of Tir-y-Don, wish to see and celebrate outfits inspired by hunting, forests, or your favorite Robin Hood character (from any adaptation).

There are 2 standard categories. If you are an artisan or small business interested in sponsoring an additional challenge and prize, please contact Signora Asya. Participants may enter their outfit in as many categories as they can, but any entry can only win in one category. Winners will be chosen by live populous vote.

– By Thine Hand: Celebrating our phenomenal artisans! Outfits in this category must feature a component made by hand.

– Locally Sourced: Help us promote small businesses! Outfits in this category should feature at least 1 component purchased from a small business. If that business is not one of the vendors at the event, you must bring a business card or documentation for that vendor. Information about these businesses will be shared after the event.

All outfits should have a period-appropriate vibe and abide by the SCA dress code policy. Transformations and group entries are welcomed, but all “performance” elements should be completed in under a minute to be sure everyone has a chance to showcase their hard work.
